Severe storms in Central Europe, caused by Cyclone Boris, have led to significant damage and disruption in several countries, including Romania, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany. The worst may not be over yet, as large amounts of rain are expected in a short period of time. In some regions, as much rain has fallen in four days as is typically seen throughout the entire month of September.

The worst may not be over yet, as large amounts of rain are expected in a short period of time. During the 2024/25 season, Ukraine exported 8.7 million metric tons of grain, showing an increase from the 5.9 million metric tons shipped the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Wheat exports made up 4.8 million metric tons, with corn and barley exports reaching 2.5 million and 1.2 million metric tons, respectively. As of September 13, Ukrainian farmers had harvested 38.3 million metric tons of grain and oilseeds. This included 21.9 million metric tons of wheat, 1.1 million metric tons of corn, and 5.5 million metric tons of barley, as per the Ministry’s data.

The French Ministry of Agriculture announced a downward revision of its harvest forecast. Agreste, lowered the projection of soft wheat by 0.5 million tons, bringing it to 25.78 million tons, edging closer to Argus Media’s early August estimate of 25.17 million tons.

Additionally, Agreste released updated production forecasts for several other crops:

Barley: 10.05 million tons, compared to the 10.4 million tons estimated in August.
Durum wheat: 1.18 million tons, slightly below the 1.19 million tons expected last month.
Rapeseed: 3.95 million tons, close to the previous estimate of 3.94 million tons.
Grain corn: 14.39 million tons, up from the 14.01 million tons predicted in August.
