Maize acreage in Ukraine is estimated 9% lower than last year, mainly in favour of oilseeds (soya and rapeseed). Wheat acreage would be as much as 2% higher than last season. Maize acreage in 2023 was just over 4 million hectares, which was 112% of the ministry’s original plan, but also almost 7% less than what was sown in 2022. Market analyst AgRural raises its estimate of Brazil’s 2nd maize crop from 86.3mio MT to 91.2mio MT. A different move from Conab earlier this month which dropped the 2nd crop by 3.13mio MT to 88.1mio MT.
