New employee Jurjen Ronner

I was born in Leeuwarden on 8 June 1971, where I enjoyed a fantastic childhood in the Frisian countryside. My passion for nature and agriculture developed during these formative years, while fishing, and exploring the surrounding fields and meadows.

After secondary school, I successfully completed my study in Zootechnics at Wageningen University Research, specialising in Aquaculture. In my first year of employment – which was during the swine fever epidemic – I worked at the Swine Fever Coordination Centre. Later that year, I also worked for the National Inspection Service for Livestock and Meat (RVV). Then, after a brief period working in ICT, I returned to the agricultural sector.

I worked for SGS for five years, focusing on the inspection and certification of agricultural products, both in Rotterdam and Mexico City. This served as my introduction to agricultural commodities. I then moved from inspection to procurement, joining De Heus Animal Nutrition as a grain buyer. The next step in my career took me into trading, where I worked for over seven years at Glencore (now Viterra) as a Grain Trader. This was followed by nearly five years in the role of Global Product Lead Corn at Cefetra. Over the past three and a half years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the dynamic grain broker profession at Agribrokers. As of 1 October 2024, I will pursue this career path with the VV COM team. I hope to use my vast professional experience and expertise in order to successfully serve my clients for many years to come.
